Research Analyst Intern (Graduate level)

TYPE: Paid Summer Internship (full or part-time options available)

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION: Work with the D3 Gender Research Initiative (GRI) staff to support partnership development, including proposal writing, data collection, and analysis.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop an understanding of the D3 research process.
• Contribute gender issues/global health subject matter expertise to D3’s Gender Initiative.
• Prepare literature reviews of scholarly research on relevant topics countries of interest; this includes reviewing and searching for other surveys and databases on particular topics.
• Provide assistance to staff on data management, quality control, and background research.
• Learn SPSS data management and analysis skills.
• Support training efforts with field researchers.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: (Minimum requirements for the position.)
• Knowledge of gender equality issues or maternal child health, public health, and international development issues, particularly as they relate to hard to reach populations.
• Capable of self-directed and independent research.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.
• Desirable: foreign language skills in Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, or French.
• Desirable: proficiency in SPSS and Stata.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: (Minimum requirements for the position.)
• One year of Graduate level coursework with research agendas related to GRI Initiative.
• Exposure to and/or a strong interest in international social research.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• General office tasks including filing and using a computer in an indoor office setting.
