Summer Research Programs in Public Health & Global Health
The Washington University Institute for Public Health and its Global Health Center will offer two summer research programs in 2015. The Public Health Advanced Summer Education (PHASE) program with support from a Diversity and Inclusion Grant from the Office of the Provost, and the Summer Program for Research in Global Health (SPRINGH), with support from the Departments of Medicine, Molecular Microbiology, and Pathology and Immunology. The programs offer students the opportunity to work closely with outstanding faculty mentors focusing on public health and global health.

These eight-week programs are open to national and international students currently enrolled at the time of application and participation in the program at the following degrees at a US-based university:

– Full-time college undergraduates;
– Graduate students pursuing a Master in Public Health (MPH), Social Work (MSW), or Population Health Sciences (MPHS); and
– Medical students looking to gain experience in the fields of public and global health research (especially infectious diseases).

– Receive a $4000 stipend and a free Metrolink transit pass
– For students working at an international site, travel to and from St. Louis to the research site will be covered

These programs will expose students and future investigators to research in a lab or field-based setting and further their interest in public health or global health. They include didactic sessions and seminars, and is an opportunity to establish a career-building network. At the end of the eight weeks the students will give presentations at a student research symposium.

 Timeline

Applications will be accepted from November 1, 2014 to February 1, 2015, and the program will run from June 1 through July 31, 2015.
