AYUDA (American Youth Understanding Diabetes Abroad) is a citizen sector non-profit operating out of Washington DC that empowers youth to be agents of change in diabetes communities around the world. AYUDA partners with local diabetes organizations in Latin America to support sustainable diabetes outreach programs with the goal of empowering youth to live happier and healthier lives with diabetes. AYUDA volunteers undergo a rigorous training program before traveling abroad that gives volunteers the knowledge to work effectively in the local context. During the in-country program, volunteers work closely with AYUDA’s local partner organizations to support and strengthen the sustainability of their various diabetes outreach initiatives. AYUDA programs for this coming year are as follows:

  • Haitian Camp Ami: April 4-14th
  • Ganémosle 5k/10k/Zumbathon: May 30th-June 8th
  • Campo Amigo: June 20th-July 8th.
