Development Internship at Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy
Dates of Internship: (October 2014 – April or May 2015). Start and end dates are flexible.
Compensation: Unpaid. Alliance will provide supervision of requirements to receive school credit.

Founded in 1979, the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy builds the capacity of youth-serving providers and engages youth in public policy advocacy to ensure reproductive justice for all youth and young parents in an environment of dignity, respect, and high expectations. We believe that youth gaining control of their sexual health are youth gaining control of their lives, and that young people who do become parents can rise to the challenge.
The Alliance seeks an intern to assist with fundraising during the 2014-2015 school year. This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals who have an interest in adolescent sexual health and young families and are seeking experience in nonprofit fundraising. Working closely with senior level staff, the Development Intern will develop skills in federal, private foundation, and individual fundraising while gaining first-hand experience in a small but growing nonprofit.
Responsibilities Will Include:
Database management;
Compiling and summarizing data on programmatic achievements;
Implementing an annual appeal to individual donors (mail and online);
Drafting and sending donor acknowledgement letters;
Assisting with federal and foundation proposal and report writing; and
Soliciting sponsors for major events.

Strong organizational skills;
Excellent, professional phone manner;
Excellent written communication skills;
Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office package (Outlook, Excel, Word);
Willingness and ability to work autonomously, with direction and support;
Commitment to and belief in the mission of the Massachusetts Alliance on Teen Pregnancy, and desire to empower the young people of Massachusetts; and Engagement in an undergraduate or graduate level of study preferred.
