We are seeking a Research Project Coordinator for a study that will examine cancer prevention, health and cancer literacy and decision-making about cancer and clinical trials in persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA.) This study builds on an academic-community research collaboration formed in 2009, the HIV/AIDS and Cancer Community Research Collaboration, which has recently implemented an educational intervention in the setting of community AIDS service organizations (ASOs). The Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting PLWHA to assess preferences for receiving cancer education and clinical trials information, health and cancer literacy and perceptions of concerns along the full cancer continuum with a focus on prevention and non-AIDS defining cancers. The candidate will also be responsible for all data management including data collection, entry, and cleaning. In addition, the candidate will also be responsible for recruiting and conducting individual interviews and/! or focus groups with ASO staff who participated in the prior educational intervention. The Coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining the qualitative data and work with the principal investigator (PI) and research team to analyze both the qualitative and quantitative data. Because this study works with a diverse population and with multiple community partners and organizations as a collaborative team, the candidate must have superior communication skills, both written and verbal. This position is funded for 1 year.
Specific Responsibilities
* Works with team to design data forms and tools to facilitate data collection;
* Collect necessary quantitative and qualitative data;
* Coordinate and carry out participant recruitment with community-based organizations;
* Obtain informed consent and administer assessment and/or conduct the focus group;
* Manages and maintains all study data;
* Conduct regular audits of the data to ensure its accuracy and integrity;
* Ensure that patient registration, informed consent procedures, and handling of data meet all institutional and governmental requirements;
* Ensures that all appropriate Institutional, State, and Federal regulations are followed throughout the course of a research project, database, or protocol with the Research Manager;
* Provide regular reports to the PI regarding study progress and challenges and work with the PIs to address any problems that arise;
* Organize and participate in weekly and monthly research team meetings;
* Assist in the preparation of presentations and manuscripts;
* Perform literature searches and other tasks as needed.
Position Requirements
* Master’s in Psychology, Public Health or relevant graduate work is preferred;
* Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis very strongly recommended;
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and SPSS helpful
* Outstanding judgment, initiative, and attention to detail;
* Able to work efficiently and effectively;
* Superior interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication skills;
* Flexible and works well independently as well as in a team setting.
