Are you interested in working with high school students? Are you looking for a robust practicum experience?
The Boston Trinity Academy is looking for BUSPH students to participate in the Trinity Institute for Leadership and Social Justice. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with the bright and motivated students of Boston Trinity Academy, in developing and conducting community engagement and service activities around public health issues. BUSPH students would be tasked with leading student action groups, and encouraging student participation and ownership of their designated public health issue. The Institute currently works on the following issues: human trafficking, tobacco-free campaigns, homelessness care, and environmental issues.
Some of the many experiences that you will gain through this practicum experience are:
* Education/awareness building around your health issue
* Curriculum building
* Event planning
* Community engagement
* Leadership

Caught in Conflict: The Journeys of Child Soldiers

This panel discussion will tackle the problem of child soldiers around the world today. Panelists, like former child soldier Ishmael Beah and the UN's Leila Zerrougui, will reflect on their personal experiences with this issue. This event serves as the launch of a new report from the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative's Women in War program on the reintegration of former child soldiers in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. This event is hosted by the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at the Institute of Politics and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and part of the HUMANITY EXPLORED series.

Health & Human Services Department seeks intern
The Newton Health and Human Services Department, Youth Services Division, seeks a college student intern.
Qualified applicants will have completed a minimum of one year of undergraduate work in health education, public health, social work or related field.
The internship is for one to two days per week for a total of 5 hours. A stipend is available. The intern will be supervised by the Director of Youth Services. Specific duties include writing for the city website, local newspapers and social media, scheduling events, and other related projects.
Applicants must be capable of independent work, possess excellent writing skills, be creative, and have an interest in the topic of Youth Stress.

Then you should become acquainted with the ins and outs of the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Mary-Tara Roth, from the Clinical Research Resources Office, will present about working with the IRB (at multiple institutions) and the steps needed to submit a protocol of your own. Refreshments will be served.
