Student Coordinator
Group on Reproductive Health and Rights (GRHR)
The Group on Reproductive Health and Rights (GRHR) is seeking a master’s or doctoral student to serve as student coordinator. The position is part-time.
The GRHR is a Boston-based forum that provides a platform for the latest research, program, policy and advocacy work focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights. Members of the GRHR are active in the field of domestic and international sexual and reproductive health. The GRHR is governed by a steering committee (SC) comprised of individuals from the following institutions: Boston University School of Public Health, Columbia University , Harvard Law School, Harvard School of Public Health, Ibis Reproductive Health, Suffolk University and the University of Southern California. The GRHR hosts high-profile academic, policy and advocacy leaders in our field, and aims to provide a space to not only highlight important efforts and advances in domestic and international sexual and reproductive health and rights, but also provides the opportunity for group members to share ongoing work and ideas and get input from a range of research, policy and provider colleagues.
The main activity of the student coordinator will be to organize approximately 6 GRHR meetings over the course of the 2013-2014 academic year. The student coordinates the monthly communications regarding GRHR events, including date, location, and travel arrangements for the speakers and participants. The student coordinator is responsible for preparing the monthly meeting agenda, taking minutes, incorporating feedback from the SC and sharing them with GRHR for full review. Between monthly meetings, the student coordinator also manages the listserv and ensures that the GRHR document database is up to date. The GRHR will occasionally take on group projects or host or co-host events (e.g. books, editorials, conferences, and/or curriculum development); there are currently no specific projects or events planned for 2013-2014 but the group will continue to discuss possible group activities. On average, this position requires 10-15 hours per month.
The position is not funded. In the event that the group sponsors an event in the upcoming academic year, funding will be sought to compensate for additional time beyond the standard 10-15 hours per month.
To apply for this position, please send a cover letter and CV to Liz Henry, student coordinator, at ehenry@bu.edu by July 1st.
