Campus-wide craft fair to benefit Guatemalan non-profit for Mayan midwifery
Do you make jewelry? Like to paint or sculpt? Knit or crochet? Do you have artwork that you want to sell? Participate in a campus-wide Craft Fair on March 28 to benefit ACAM (Asociacion De Comadronas de Area Mam), a non-profit organization committed to strengthening Guatemalan Mayan Midwifery, and sell your artwork! Dr. Ezra Barzilay will come speak at BUSPH on Thursday Feb 21st from 12-1 in L112. Dr. Barzilay is a Medical Epidemiologist in the Health Systems Reconstruction Office at CDC and has been one of the leaders of CDC’s efforts in Haiti after the devastating earthquake. The title of his talk is "Up the river, without a surveillance system: the muddy, pot-holed road to establishing surveillance in Haiti".

MPH 2015: Open Student Forum on 2/21 – Share YOUR Thoughts on the MPH Program at BUSPH!
The MPH 2015 Task Force was charged by the Governing Council to ensure that BUSPH has an innovative, competitive and successful MPH program within the evolving environment for public health. Student insight and feedback are essential to this process. You are invited to participate in an Open Student Forum on Thursday, February 21, 5-5:50pm in L-212. No preparation is needed – simply come and share your ideas with us.
Background. The Task Force and five working groups have been meeting regularly to discuss various aspects of our program including the core, concentrations, the practicum, the culminating experience, and effective teaching and assessment. These groups have been working to brainstorm and generate proposals for revisions, re-design etc. of the MPH program. The process is meant to be inclusive and we want to hear from you! Student input on curricular and co-curricular activities is essential to the work of the MPH 2015 Task Force.
In adddition to the Open Student Forum on Thursday, February 21, 5-5:50pm in L-212, students are encouraged to:
• Submit a proposal to the MPH 2015 Task Force (by March 1). Creativity is encouraged!

ABOUT PATRICIA J. BURNS, MSC, MPH
Patricia has over 12 years of experience as a public health program manager with a proven track record of project development, management, and evaluation, Federal grant writing and regulation, budget and work plan development and management, team building, and pre/post assessment and transition management. Patricia has built and led teams, and worked creatively with internal/external partners and funding sources. Prior to earning her MPH at BUSPH in 2001, she lived in rural Ethiopia for 3 years as a department head in a new health sciences college in the rural Southern Region. Most recently she supported teams in Puerto Rico (3 years) and Botswana (8 years) as a Senior Programs Manager and the Assistant Country Director for the Botswana PEPFAR AIDS Training and Site Support Program with the Harvard School of Public Health.

We are currently accepting applications for the Santander Universities Latin America Scholarship and the Santander Universities Scholarship. The spring deadline for application submission is February 21st, 2013. Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered for the fall semester application cycle.
Pathfinder International has several open positions for technical specialists
Pathfinder International is seeking the following technical specialists for short term technical assistance (STTA) on the anticipated Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Through this agreement, MCC will release task orders with the primary purpose of (1) conducting due diligence of proposals submitted by MCC-eligible countries and (2) supporting implementation of awarded Threshold and Compact programs. In order to be selected to participate on this BPA, our consortium must present a roster of technical experts who can provide assistance as required when task orders are released by MCC. Duration and Scope of these assignments will depend on the request sent out by MCC.
1. Senior Technical Advisor (Nutrition): Provide technical assistance in the area of nutrition. 8-10 years of providing technical assistance in the field of nutrition. MPH or MS in nutrition required. PhD preferred
2. Private Sector (health) advisor: Provide technical assistance in the area of private sector engagement in health activities. 5-7 years of providing technical assistance in private sector engagement in the area of health. MBA or MPH required.
3. HIV and other infectious diseases advisor: Provide technical assistance in the area of HIV and other infectious diseases. 8-10 years of providing technical assistance in the field of infectious diseases with significant experience related to HIV. PhD in epidemiology preferred and MS or MPH in Epidemiology required
4. Non-communicable disease advisor: Provide technical assistance in the area of non-communicable diseases. 5-7 years of providing technical assistance in the area of non-communicable diseases. MPN with a focus on NCDs required.
5. Senior Health Economist: 8-10 years of providing technical assistance in the field of health economics. PhD in Economics required. A focus on health economics preferred.
