Assistant Director, Civil Liberties and Public Policy Program at Hampshire College
Assistant Director, Civil Liberties and Public Policy Program
Hampshire College, an independent, innovative liberal arts institution, is seeking an Assistant Director for the Civil Liberties and Public Policy (CLPP) Program, a national project that equips and inspires new generations of leaders through campus-based education, real-world advocacy practice, and the skills to build a stronger, more diverse movement for reproductive freedom and social change.
Reporting to the CLPP Director, the Assistant Director advances CLPP’s mission through management and oversight of three major projects: CLPP’s summer internship program (Reproductive Rights Activist Service Corps); national activist network (New Leadership Networking Initiative); and intensive Summer Leadership Institute. The Assistant Director will be responsible for conducting outreach, securing participation, and developing programming that meets project goals and advances CLPP’s mission of supporting new leadership. This position is responsible for managing and working collaboratively with staff, faculty, college departments, organizational partners, and evaluating the projects. The Assistant Director will be expected to stand in for the CLPP directors as needed and represent CLPP at the college and externally in national venues.
This is a full time grant funded position with continuation pending future funding.
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience are required. Qualified candidates should have extensive project management experience; familiarity with reproductive rights and social justice issues; experience working with diverse communities, including people with different racial, ethnic and class backgrounds, and people of different genders. Previous supervisory experience, as well as practice working as a mentor to emerging activists or students is preferred. Candidates must have technology skills and experience in website and social media tools; be computer proficient (Word, Excel, and web-based software); and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Assistant Director will be expected to work collaboratively; prioritize multiple, competing demands, and problem-solve independently with minimal supervision. A commitment to CLPP’s mission is essential. This position requires occasional evenings and weekends.
