Development/Communications Intern, Cambridge MA

Ibis Reproductive Health is a nonprofit research organization that aims to improve women’s reproductive health, choices, and autonomy in the US and worldwide. Our staff of roughly 20 is located in Cambridge, MA and Oakland CA, USA; and Johannesburg, South Africa. We conduct original clinical and social science research, leverage existing research, produce educational resources, and promote policies and practices that support sexual and reproductive rights and health. We work closely with advocates to conceptualize research questions and to help ensure the results of our research lead to positive change in women’s lives. We seek an enthusiastic intern with a commitment to women’s reproductive health and rights and a strong background in nonprofit fundraising and/or event planning to assist with activities for Ibis’s 10-year anniversary activities. Possible duties include: soliciting and tracking donations and sponsorship, helping to coordinating fundraising event logistics, utilizing social media (Twitter and Facebook), and developing materials for the fundraiser.The position is unpaid but available for work study or practicum/school credit. We are looking for candidates who could begin in late August or early September, preferably.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights.
  • Experience in non-profit fundraising and/or event planning.
  • Willingness to help others, good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills essential, familiarity with fundraising software a plus).
  • Familiarity with social media and social networking sites (Facebook and Twitter).
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Hard working, highly motivated, self-starter.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Sense of humor.
