in Fellowships
July 11th, 2012

IH will not be offering an organizational behavior course this fall, and may not offer such a course in the spring.  PM 721 can be taken by IH Concentrators without any pre-requisites and will count for IH elective credit.  It is very appropriate for IH students with an interest in management.  Department concentrators looking to fill out their fall schedule should seriously consider this course.

This course provides a framework for understanding, diagnosing, and taking actions to improve individual, group, and system-wide effectiveness in health services organizations. The conceptual framework is derived from the organizational behavior literature and applied to health services organizations. Some of the topics this course addresses and integrates are leadership, motivation, corporate culture, teams, organization design and coordination, and organization change. Case studies, brief lectures, student presentations, and experiential exercises are used throughout this course.   Some of the materials are international in nature.

The instructor, Claudia Lach, is the founder of Lach Training & Consulting which she established in 2000 after 15 years of experience in education, nonprofit management, and higher-education administration.  She is a native of Argentina and former Assistant Dean of the International Business School at Brandeis University. Ms. Lach has broad international experience.
