   Community Outreach Worker

 Tooth Smart Healthy Start is a dental research study focused on the prevention on Early Childhood Caries (ECC) among children ages 0-5 year old.  This study is being conducted among pregnant women and caregivers of children ages 0-5 who (a) speak either English or Spanish and (b) live in family housing developments in Boston. 

 Children of caregivers who enroll in the study will receive free dental health screenings and fluoride applications at their housing development four times each year for a total of two years from a dental professional.

 Applicants to this position should be:

    •       bilingual (English/Spanish),

    •       able to function both independently and as part of a team,

    •       able to work a flexible schedule (available on evenings and weekends),

    •       detail oriented,

    •       comfortable conducting door-to-door recruitment,

    •       creative thinkers, and

    •       have basic computer skills

 The following qualities in applicants are preferred, but not required:

    •       access to a car

As a community outreach worker, you would be responsible for the following tasks:

    •       recruit interested residents for the study via door-to-door recruitment and outreach events

    •       screen residents for study eligibility

    •       obtain informed consent 

    •       track interested residents, and performing any necessary follow-up tasks

    •       serve as a liaison between the interested residents and study participants and the study team

The community outreach worker position can be either part or full time.  The hourly wage is $15.
