Massachusetts Share Fair is recruiting students from BU for a summer job opportunity

April 26th, 2012 in Jobs

Summer Jobs with Massachusetts Fair Share

Corporations and their CEOs are currently paying a smaller percentage of taxes than the average working American family earning $50,000 a year. If everyone paid their fair share in this country, we could be creating millions of jobs. That's why we're launching a huge, national campaign to give every American a fair shot. We are hiring full-time staff here in the Boston area to build the grassroots support it will take to win this campaign.

Fair Share Alliance works to provide every American with a fair shot at a good job, a secure future and a strong voice in our democracy. But powerful, entrenched interests are gaming the system to their benefit, while denying everyone else a fair shot. We need to stand up to the 1% and their allies in Congress that block progress at every turn. However, changing the status quo won't be easy. It's going to take a movement of active citizens mobilizing the public to fight for real solutions that will create good jobs and a fair economy. It's going to take YOU!

JOIN OUR FIGHT FOR A FAIR ECONOMY TODAY.

Call CHRIS at 617-332-3694 TODAY to set up an interview and to hear more about positions that are available.

Fair Share Alliance is working to demand an economy that works for all of us. We're looking for paid activists to help us generate the grassroots support it will take to win, by engaging people at the door in communities across the state. Rapid promotion is available, as we are working to expand our presence quickly in the next year. Visit our website to learn more and apply online. http://fairsharealliance.org/jobs/campaign-jobs.

Every Child Deserves a Fifth Birthday Campaign…how you can help!

April 26th, 2012 in Outside Announcements

The USAID and UNICEF-led Every Child Deserves a Fifth Birthday campaign officially kicked off Monday April 23rd! The campaign aims to engage the public & raise awareness leading up to the June Call to Action for Child Survival here in Washington DC, advocating for an end to preventable child deaths within a generation. For public health students, the campaign is a great way to lend your voice to a growing movement to use the tools at our fingertips (most of which can fit in a backpack) to continue to reduce child mortality.

Please post your own fifth birthday photo along with a birthday wish for children around the world to the campaign site.  You can learn more about the campaign in this short videographic  from the team at USAID, and (if you're looking for inspiration) check out these submissions from the famous & not-so-famous (including a BUSPH alumna) that have already been uploaded to the site.

If you have any questions about the campaign, please feel free to reach out to alumna Amanda Makulec at amakulec@jsi.com, who is a member of the campaign's External Engagement Working Group. The best way to get involved is by uploading your photo & asking your friends and family to do the same. Thanks for your support!
