Campus-wide film screening & panel discussion: “Miss Representation”
You are cordially invited to a campus-wide film screening! The film Miss Representation explores how the media’s misrepresentation of women has led to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence. In a society where media is the most persuasive force shaping cultural norms, the collective message that our young women and men overwhelmingly receive is that a woman’s value and power lie in her youth, beauty, and sexuality, and not in her capacity as a leader. This film has received critical acclaim from the Sundance Film Festival and has received high praise from more than 6 other film festivals.
