Team Heart looking for MPH student/graduate for Boston-based work
Team Heart is a Boston-based non-profit organization that provides cardiac screening and surgeries in Kigali, Rwanda. We are also initiating a training program for cardiology residents to increase the number of Rwandan cardiologists trained to practice in their home country. Our organization includes volunteers from medicine, nursing, perfusion, respiratory therapy and a wide range of non-clinical positions. Since 2007 we have partnered with the Rwanda Heart Foundation, the Ministry of Health and the citizens of Rwanda to assist Rwanda in building a program in cardiac surgery.
Team Heart is seeking an MPH student or recent MPH graduate to participate in our Boston-based activities. The individual will work both with our team housed at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and will additionally have some opportunity to work on projects from home. Proposed activities include fundraising, database management, brochure design, correspondence, procurement, and other administrative activities. We are seeking an individual to coordinate with our volunteers for the September screening trip, as well as in advance of the January surgery trip. This excellent opportunity will increase skills with project coordination and management, as well as provide an understanding of the financial management of a small international non-profit.
Team Heart is seeking an individual with strong organizational skills, including facility with Microsoft Office and Excel. Excellent interpersonal skills and basic financial management skills required. Must be able to take initiative, work independently and work well with our team. Experience with fundraising and design are a plus.
Position start: Immediately
Duration: July – October, with potential for extension
Hours: flexible, daytime, 30 hours per week
