Find Funding for Early Career Scientists: Meet The Funder: The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation
- Starts: 12:00 pm on Thursday, May 4, 2023
- Ends: 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 4, 2023
- The Beckman Young Investigator program provides $600,000 over four years for innovative, high-risk projects that have potential to accelerate significant advances in chemistry and the life sciences. Each year the foundation makes awards to ~10 assistant professors within four years of independence who have not yet received a major external grant. Letters of intent are due Tuesday, August 1.
- The Arnold O. Beckman Postdoctoral Fellowship program supports advanced research by early-stage postdocs working in fundamental chemistry or the development of chemical instrumentation. Each year, the foundation selects ~14 postdoctoral fellows (recent PhD graduates or within the first 18 months of their fellowship). Letters of intent are due Wednesday, September 6.
Anne Hultgren, executive director and CEO of the Arnold & Mabel Beckman Foundation, and Nicole Patras, program officer for the Young Investigator program, will present, alongside BU’s Hadi Nia, assistant professor of biomedical engineering and a 2022 Beckman Young Investigator, who will share his experience as an applicant and awardee.
