The award of $100,000 from the American Heart Association completements a grant from the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute to support Seta’s work to understand the mechanisms of aortic ruptures. The study’s results will spur the development of new therapies.

The award of $300,000 from the American Heart Association will support Han’s research to understand vascular biology. She will investigate how changes in the features of a surface influence vascular function.

Peter Blake, associate professor of psychology, studies children’s generosity in Templeton-funded projects

Blake, whose work has been supported by the Templeton Foundation various times over the past ten years, investigates how children learn concepts such as giving and fairness across different cultural settings.

Samagya Banskota, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, named Hartwell Investigator

The award from the Hartwell Foundation will support Dr. Banskota and collaborators in developing novel treatment methods for genetic disorders affecting children.

Women Veterans Network receives Bob Woodruff Foundation grant

The Bob Woodruff Foundation has supported the Women Veterans Network (WoVeN), led by Professor of Psychiatry Tara Galovski, since 2020.

Nicholas Livingston, assistant professor of psychiatry, receives PCORI award for opioid use research

Livingston will study the impacts of federal regulations of opiates on treatment use, patient retention, and outcomes. The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute supports large-scale comparative clinical effectiveness research.

Liangliang Hao, assistant professor of biomedical engineering, receives Beckman Young Investigator Award

in News

Hao is BU’s fourth recipient of the prestigious Young Investigator Award in as many years. Her research project will focus on deep-tissue cellular activity mapping.
