Veterans & Military Benefits

Boston University Veterans Services is the liaison between the University, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the Department of Defense (DOD). We certify student enrollment to the VA, provide general guidance concerning military education benefits, and serve as the point of contact for all military-connected students.

The VA & DOD are the only organizations that can verify benefit eligibility, as well as payment dates and amounts. We make every effort to provide accurate and timely information concerning military education benefits, but the ultimate responsibility to understand their benefits, including remaining eligibility, rests with the student. As a reminder, if the VA finds a student ineligible or less-eligible for any reason, students are responsible for charges incurred.

Once you begin VA benefits at Boston University you will be automatically certified each semester. If you don’t wish to use VA benefits for a semester, you must email your request to veterans@bu.edu. Students are encouraged to submit their requests before the semester begins.
