Matt Parfitt is an Associate Professor at the College of General Studies, where he has been teaching freshman writing since 1992. From 2003-14 he served as Chair of the Rhetoric Division at CGS. He is the author of a widely-used rhetoric, Writing in Response (Bedford/St. Martins, 2012, 2015) and most recently, co-author of Pursuing Happiness: A Bedford Spotlight Reader (Bedford/St. Martins, 2015). His main research interests are in the history of reading and the teaching of reading skills.
