Exchange Mailbox Creation

  • ESO Network Support staff notifies the DSA or Data Trustee when a new account has been mail-enabled.
  • Once logged into the network, the new user accesses his or her mailbox by running the Outlook client.
  • To ensure external mail is properly redirected to the user’s Exchange mailbox, the DSA has the user change the e-mail address in his or her BU Electronic Directory profile from BULoginName@acs.bu.edu to BULoginName@ad2.bu.edu. The user’s BU Login Name and Kerberos password are required. If the e-mail address is not displayed, it must still be entered into the profile and saved.
  • The DSA then asks the user to test the account’s ability to receive mail from outside BU by sending a message from an e-mail account  such as Gmail, Hotmail, AOL, or Yahoo!.
