Starter Projects

EPIC has several starter projects on hand to help get you into our facility and working with your hands. See what we are excited about!

Maze Project: Intro to CNC & Laser Cutting

The Maze Project is a self-guided project designed to introduce students to the principles of CNC machining and Laser Cutting. You will be provided with a booklet, material, a work station and mentoring support from our team of Lab Assistants.

Budget a 2-3 hour time frame to complete. (Maybe a little more, maybe a little less)

Gasket Project: Intro to Measurements, Clearance & CNC

The Gasket Project is a self-guided project designed to introduce students to the principles of measurement with Calipers and the use of clearance when designing components to mate together.

You will be provided with a booklet, calipers, a component to measure and mentoring support from our team of Lab Assistants to design and program a CNC milling machine to manufacture a mating gasket.

Budget a 2 hour time frame to complete. (Maybe a little more, maybe a little less)

Coaster Project: 2.5D CNC Machining

The Coaster Project is a self-guided project designed to introduce students to the principles of 2.5D CNC machining. You will be provided with a booklet, material, a work station and mentoring support from our team of Lab Assistants.

The Pawn Project is a self-guided project designed to introduce students to the principles of the TRAK CNC Lathe. You will be provided with a booklet, material, a work station and mentoring support from our Lab Supervisors.
