Research Lab Quota

Each research lab is given an initial quota of $250, each print will be charged against your quota. The cost of your parts will be the total cost to print the part (i.e., materials, consumables, labor, and overhead). This averages to 2.5x raw material cost.

Purchase Material

Please find recommended links to purchase materials below. Cash value of the materials purchased will be added to your quota when you send us your invoice. If you have any questions please reach out to karam@bu.edu

We can no longer accept Stratasys spools so please do not order them. Those printers are being phased out.

Formlabs (SLA):

• We recommend purchasing Clear resin to refill your quota unless you are have provided a custom resin and tank for printing
• We have Form 3, do not buy Form 3B or Form 4 supplies
• Clear resin, CHOOSE FORM 3 – 1L: https://formlabs.com/store/materials/clear-resin-v4/
• We do not use all of the materials sold by Formlabs, so if we do not have a tank for the material we cannot use it

Bambulabs (FDM):

• We recommend purchasing Black or White PLA to refill your quota unless you are using a custom filament, not all filaments will be compatible with our printers so please confirm compatibility before purchasing.
• https://us.store.bambulab.com/collections/pla/products/pla-basic-filament – We have plenty of reusable spools so the Refill option is preferred when available
• If you cannot order from Bambulab.com you may purchase from Amazon, below are brands we accept (they work in the AMS and print with Bambulab filament settings).
