Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training for Students
Boston University is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and equitable environment for all members of our community. As part of this effort, all students are required to complete online sexual misconduct prevention training each year. This training is just one important part of the University’s efforts to promote a culture of respect and prevent interpersonal violence.
All students are required to complete sexual misconduct prevention trainings. Students who do not complete the training will become non-compliant with the University and withheld from using the course planner and registering for classes during their second semester.
There are different requirements for undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree students, incoming and returning students, and Varsity student athletes.
Training Deadlines
Fall-Start Students
You will become non-compliant on October 15 if you have not completed the training.

Why is this Required?
It’s important to create a respectful and healthy campus community. BU’s sexual misconduct prevention training discusses your rights, responsibilities, and helps you build skills to safely intervene in situations that may lead to sexual violence. It also reviews resources and support services for sexual misconduct. The trainings are research-backed and tailored to the unique experiences of both undergraduate and graduate students.
We recognize that completing this training may be difficult for students who have experienced sexual or relationship violence. If you have concerns about completing the training due to its content, you can confidentially request a waiver through Student Health Services.
How to Complete the Training
You’ll receive an email and link when it’s time to complete your training. Look for an email from “BU Wellness Courses” at the following times:
- Fall-start students will receive an email in mid-August
