Sexual Misconduct Prevention Training
Boston University is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and equitable environment for all members of our community. As part of this effort, all employees are required to complete online sexual misconduct prevention training at the beginning of their employment.
This training discusses your rights, responsibilities, and helps you build skills to safely intervene in situations that may lead to sexual violence. It also reviews resources and support services for sexual misconduct. This training is just one important part of the University’s efforts to promote a culture of respect and prevent interpersonal violence.
How to Complete the Training
The trainings are delivered through BU’s Terrier eDevelopment Learning Management Platform (LMS).
You can complete the assigned Learning Module from any device—desktop, laptop, phone, or tablet. Once you begin, you may pause and resume your training at any time, and your progress will be saved—except when you’re in the middle of a video.
Due to the course length and the variety of topics covered, we recommend completing it in segments rather than all at once.
Please note:
- Progress is recorded at three points: start (0%), midpoint (50%), and completion (100%).
- If you log out and back in, your time spent will be accurate, but the percentage may not reflect your actual progress.
- If the course doesn’t automatically resume where you left off, use the horizontal menu at the top right of the browser window. Click “MENU” to view and navigate through completed sections.
Training Deadlines
All new employees (faculty and staff) receive an email within a few days of their start date, notifying them that they have two weeks to complete the training. The email comes from the Learning Management System. If the new employee fails to complete the module, they will receive several overdue notices until they complete the assignment.
Training Exemptions
If you have any questions or concerns about completing the training due to its content, or you previously received a waiver from participating in sexual misconduct prevention education, please contact the Equal Opportunity Office by completing this form.
