Compliance

The Equal Opportunity Office provides certification that Boston University complies with equal opportunity and affirmative action laws and regulations, with supporting information as needed, to offices and departments who are required to provide it to state, federal, or other agencies or entities.

Invitation to Self-Identify

Boston University is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to qualified individuals with disabilities. As a federal contractor, we are required to track our progress toward having at least 7% of our workforce comprised of individuals with disabilities. To support this effort, we ask all employees to voluntarily self-identify if they have a disability or have ever had one.

We understand that a person may become disabled at any point in their life. Therefore, you are welcome to update your disability status at any time during your employment with the University.

For instructions on how to self-identify, please refer to this guide: MyBUWorks Self-ID How-To Guide. In case you do not have the self-ID tile available on your home screen, please follow these instructions to add it: Manually Add Self-ID Tile.

Employees can update their self-identification information in BUWorks at any time. This includes race/ethnicity, disability status, and veteran status. Keeping this information current helps Boston University meet its commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as federal reporting requirements.

Sexual Misconduct Hiring Disclosure

The Equal Opportunity Office is responsible for responding to requests pursuant to the Policy on Responding to Employer Inquiries Regarding Sexual Misconduct. An employer seeking information as part of this policy can use this form to request a disclosure.

For additional information on this policy, please see the Memo from the Office of the Provost issued January 19, 2023.
