Dr. George Huang Spends End of May Lecturing Internationally

At the end of May, Herbert Schilder Professor in Endodontics and Director of the Advanced Specialty Education Program in Endodontics Dr. George Huang traveled to Hong Kong to present a lecture at the University of Hong Kong as part of a Hong Kong (HK) Endodontic Society Meeting. Dr. Huang was invited by alum and HK Endodontic Society Honorary Secretary Carlo Castellucci ENDO 85 and Chair of Endodontic Department at the University of Hong Kong Faculty of Dentistry Dr. Gary Cheung.

His presentation was titled, "Apexification-The Beginning of its End," and emphasized a paradigm shift away from performing apexification procedures in the management of endodontically involved immature teeth. Instead revitalization procedures are used, where by natural tissues are induced to regenerate in the root canal space.

Dr. Huang made another stop on this trip in Taiwan at Tapei Medical University (TMU), where he was invited to speak at the 2nd Annual Conference on Tooth Banking, Stem Cell Research, and Development and their Clinical Applications. The Conference took place on May 31, and was one of several events held to celebrate TMU’s 50th anniversary.

As part of this trip Dr. Huang also got to spend time with several alums including Dr. Castellucci; his wife, Chris Lin PERIO 91; Martine Boisson ORTHO 75; Rupert Gildenhuys PERIO 72, PROS 73; Sunny Cheng DMD 01; Ralph Hawkins ENDO 89; and Sung Chih Hsieh ENDO 98.
