FIRST Funding Opportunities and Technical Assistance Webinar Jan. 25

The NIH-supported biomedical research workforce is more likely to thrive in environments that support diversity and inclusiveness. To this end, the NIH Common Fund is launching the Faculty Institutional Recruitment for Sustainable Transformation (FIRST) program with the goal of fostering inclusive excellence at NIH-funded institutions and evaluating their impact.

The program aims to help institutions build a self-reinforcing community of scientists, through the recruitment of a cohort of early-career faculty who have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion. The program also seeks to encourage faculty development, retention, progression, and eventual promotion, and develop more inclusive environments.

A technical assistance webinar will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021, 2—4 p.m. about the FIRST funding opportunities.
