CTSI Grant Citation Requirements
The Boston University Clinical and Translational Science Institute (BU CTSI) is one of more than 60 leading academic health centers in the United States currently receiving Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS).
All publications and other documents about research resulting from the use of BU CTSI resources are required to Cite the BU CTSI grant and comply with the NIH Public Access Policy requires that that all investigators funded by the NIH submit to the National Library of Medicine’s PubMed Central an electronic version of their final publication. The NIH Public Access Policy ensures that research funded by the NIH is publicly accessible.
Effective July 1, 2025, all publications are required to be submitted to PubMed Central (PMC) at the time of journal publication, with embargo periods no longer allowed. Publications submitted to PubMed Central must include the PMC reference number (PMCID). Should the submitted manuscript be accepted, it is subject to the NIH Public Access Policy.

Important Information
If publications were a result of direct funding from TWO components, e.g., if a KL2 Scholar received both funding from the KL2 AND a Pilot award… then both grants can be cited.
*Citing of the CTSI grant pertains only to projects funded by NIH or Federally Funded dollars.
Include all publications, along with the PMCID (Pubmed Central ID) found in MyNCBI, that were directly resulting from the funds provided in the UL1 component and/or any UL1 revision/administrative supplements. Publications directly resulting from the KL2 scholars or TL1 trainees must be reported separately in the corresponding KL2 or TL1 report. If the publication cites multiple grants (UL1, KL2, and/or TL1) then the publication should be reported in each of those corresponding reports.
