Registration is Open!
The CLIC hosted NCATS responsive Un-Meeting has refocused and rescheduled to a ½ day virtual Un-Meeting Wednesday, September 30th, 2020. This new “rapid-response” topic will encourage discussions around the changes resulting from the COVID pandemic. Potential topics include
- Identifying clinical research trial design opportunities as a unified network in the post-COVID clinical era
- What does training look like?
- What do remote trials look like?
- What is the impact on recruitment?
- What is the role of CTSA Program in clinical research post-COVID?
- New uses of technology in research?
Other topics to be defined, because, like all of Un-Meetings, the attendees make the agenda! To keep conversations meaningful, attendance will be limited, so register soon, we are filling up fast! We look forward to seeing you in the ether!

Duke’s Mobile App Gateway Provides Critical Support for Award-Winning App
With the help of the Duke CTSI Mobile App Gateway (MAG), Dr. Schenita Randolph received an award for her app, The TALK: A Novel Mobile Application marketed in Barbershops and Beauty Salons for Black Fathers and Mothers to promote sexual health among Black male adolescents living in the United States South
UCSF Using 3D Printing to Improve Pediatric Heart Surgery
UCSF recently established the Center for Advanced 3D+ Technologies, made possible by a $1.4 million grant from the UCSF Office of the Chancellor and supported by a $1.1 million gift from an anonymous donor. Complete with high-end printing equipment, advanced visualization, and a dedicated engineer, this center is capitalizing on the latest technology to advance pediatric care.

Making Mentorship a Team Effort
The traditional mentor/mentee model needs an update. While one-on-one mentoring remains critical, mentees also need mentoring teams that evolve over time. These types of teams were important in our own career journeys, and we’ve reworked the mentoring programs at our own institution to leverage them.
Harvard’s Leadership, Communications, and Mentoring Webinar Series Available
Harvard’s recent series, “Building a Successful C/T Research Career,” invited participants this past April through May to learn from leading Harvard faculty and community members the foundational skills to build a successful career in clinical and translational (c/t) research. Recordings of select webinars, presentation slides, and additional resources have been archived for you to access—from negotiation skills and feedback to presentations, papers, mentoring partnerships, and more.
