Walter Simpson

Walter Simpson (CAS’71) of Amherst, N.Y., a retired SUNY Buffalo energy officer, has published three books on the railroad locomotive: Diesel-Electric Locomotives: How They Work, Use Energy, and Can Become More Efficient and Environmentally Sustainable (Simmons- Boardman Books, 2018), Turbine Power: A Bold Railroading Technology and Its Fate (Kalmbach, 2020), and The Steam Locomotive Energy Story: How These Locomotives Used Energy and What Was Done to Make Them More Efficient (Chesapeake & Ohio Historical Society, 2021).
