Vicky Gall (Sargent’73, Wheelock’83) of Hyde Park, Mass., president of the Hyde Park Branch Library, was the organizer of the fundraising project and the 2020 gravestone dedication service for the trailblazing alum Rebecca Lee Crumpler (MED1864) and her husband, Arthur Crumpler. The first Black woman to graduate from a US medical school, Rebecca Lee Crumpler had been written about in history books, and her house is a stop on the Boston Women’s Heritage Trail. But for 125 years, her final resting spot was an unmarked grave in Fairview Cemetery in Hyde Park. Vicky, who had done extensive research on the Crumplers, worked to change that. On July 16, 2020, the Crumplers, buried beside one another, each received proper gravestones. From the Winter-Spring 2021 issue.
