Tom Ohanian
Tom Ohanian (COM’81) of Cranston, R.I., won his third Emmy for scientific and technical invention, in addition to an Academy Award for the same achievements. He is the coinventor of the Avid nonlinear editing system. He publishedThe Making of a Motion Picture Editor (Tablo, 2018), which features interviews with editors who represent 360 Academy Award wins and another 785 nominations. Avid won the Emmy award for Pioneering Development of a Computerized Hard-Disk Storage Based Digital Non-Linear, Multi-Stream Multi-Camera System. “As part of Avid being recognized, Avid, in turn, designated five individuals as being worthy of receiving Emmy statuettes. I am one of those individuals,” Tom writes.
