Stephen Pizzello
Stephen Pizzello (COM’88) of North Hollywood, Calif., received the ASC Award of Distinction from the American Society of Cinematographers, recognizing his three decades of work as editor in chief of the organization’s flagship magazine, American Cinematographer. The ceremony took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles in March. Stephen’s wife, ASC general manager Delphine Figueras, is one of the event’s producers. American Cinematographer has won multiple Eddie Awards for editorial excellence from Folio, the publishing industry’s magazine of record; several Maggie Awards for editorial and design excellence from the Western Publishing Association; and special recognition from the International Federation of Cinematographers. Stephen writes that his main source of career inspiration was a stint as film editor for The Muse, the weekly arts and entertainment supplement of the Daily Free Press.
