Sheila Curran Bernard

Sheila Curran Bernard (COM’79) of Delmar, N.Y., an award-winning filmmaker and writer, published Bring Judgment Day: Reclaiming Lead Belly’s Truths from Jim Crow’s Lies (Cambridge University Press, 2024). Her previous books include Documentary Storytelling (Routledge, 5th ed., 2022) and Archival Storytelling (Routledge, 2nd ed., 2020). Sheila was recently appointed the Glen Trotiner Professor of Visual Storytelling at the University at Albany, where she is a professor in the department of history and director of the graduate program in public history.
