Sasenarine Persaud

Sasenarine Persaud (GRS’06) of Tampa, Fla., was awarded a third-place Guyana Prize for Literature in the category of Best Overall Book of Poetry for his Mattress Makers (Mawenzi House Publishers, 2023) in March 2024. “I have declined the prize pending an investigation into the prize and its administration over the last 30 years,” he writes.
