Peter Duston
Peter Duston (CAS’65, GRS’75) of Cherryfield, Maine, writes, “I noticed that no one in my class posted any notes so I’m filling the void. At 84 years old, I am still serving as a bugler with the Maine USAF Honor Guard in full uniform and working with mostly international troubled students attending private schools in Maine, New Hampshire, and beyond. I worked my way through BU in the bursar’s office, buildings and grounds, evening counseling, and finally in admissions as an assistant director, plus a parking-lot VW business with my cousin at MIT. I had the honor of having breakfast with Coretta Scott King and met other notables. My first girlfriend was the noted singer Buffy Sainte-Marie, whom I credit with getting me accepted at BU following my army discharge. While Buffy’s antiwar song, ‘The Universal Soldier,’ became one of the songs of the movement, as a reserve Army Intelligence officer, I collected information for the FBI searching for the Weather Underground during antiwar rallies at BU.” Peter was married to Martha Beckwith (CFA’73), with whom he had four children. He has seven children and many grandchildren. Email him at dkassociates20@gmail.com.
