Peter Bein

Peter Bein (CAS’75) of Atlanta, Ga., published a memoir, Maxwell’s Suitcase (Journey Home Press, 2018). When Peter, the son of a Holocaust survivor, discovered a suitcase, concealed for 40 years in his father’s Brooklyn apartment, it sent him “on a journey to places he was scared to explore.” He traveled to Poland and Germany as part of a decade-long spiritual journey to find his way home. Peter teaches writing at a small college in North Georgia and plays the clarinet. He says he loves klezmer music and its “steely ribbon of sound that resonates with the memories of my ancestors.” He earned a Master of Arts in professional writing from Kennesaw State University and lives with his wife.
