Paul Steven Stone
Paul Steven Stone (COM’68) of Marshfield, Mass., created the “Who but W.B. Mason?” advertising campaign for the New England office supply company. Now retired, Paul writes novels and children’s books. In a blog post on paulstonesthrow.com, he wrote, “Whenever someone in the company or on the creative team starts to take W.B. Mason too seriously, I remind them W.B. Mason is the circus coming to town. Repeat: the circus coming to town, and nothing more. Doesn’t matter that Mason is now $1.4 billion in sales, or that they now employ a few thousand people, rather than the 30 to 40 who worked there when we first created the brand. Our ads, our TV commercials, our catalog covers were all meant to be as corny as the circus and as American as apple pie.” Paul published two books in 2021: Souljourner: A Karmic Crime Story (Fahrenheit Press) and The Wind’s Tale (Eifrig Publishing).
