Marcus Hogan

Marcus Hogan (CFA’92) of Ascot, Queensland, Australia, is the author of CAPULET, published by Poquelin Press, a six-book prequel series to Romeo and Juliet that imagines one of the rival houses’ origins. Marcus staged his first production of Shakespeare’s most well-known work during his freshman summer at BU. The play was sponsored by Phyllis Curtin, the late dean emerita of the College of Fine Arts and founder of the School of Music Opera Institute. “That help came after an accidental meeting with her in an elevator,” he writes. “The story is…a tribute to the way BU creative staff mentored students—to significant effect—even when they sat outside their direct purview. Phyllis and I clicked instantly, however, and despite the creative degrees of separation, it just didn’t matter.”
