Kenneth Read (CGS’81, MET’83) (far left) of Portsmouth, R.I., was inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame in September 2025 at the New York Yacht Club Harbor Court in Newport. As a student at BU, Ken was appointed the starting skipper for the New England Freshmen Championship at the Yale Corinthian Yacht Club, and in 1982 was named College Sailor of the Year. He went on to win more than 50 world, North American, and national titles, and has raced in three America’s Cup campaigns. He’s been inducted into the Boston University Athletic Hall of Fame and the State of Rhode Island Athletic Hall of Fame. He is a longtime member of the New York Yacht Club and continues to race all over the world.
