Keith Tavares

Keith Tavares (CGS’88, CAS’90) of Newport, R.I., published An Azorean Family’s History: Our Faria and Moitoso Roots (Blurb, 2026), a genealogical deep dive into his ancestral origins among the Faria and Moitoso families of Portugal. His research took him to mainland Portugal, the island of Madeira, and the Azores. Keith has worked in higher education and the nonprofit sector for nearly 30 years. He is director of capacity building for the Rhode Island Foundation, former vice president of the BU Alumni Association, and former deputy director of BU's Division of Military Education. He is also founder of the BU Young Alumni and Student Alumni councils and the Young Alumni Award.
