Joseph Lieberman

Joseph Lieberman (CFA’69) of Quincy, Mass., had his art featured in Generations, a retrospective family exhibition, held in July and August of 2025 at the Quincy Art Association’s QArts Gallery, before touring other locations in New England. Generations exhibited the art of his parents, himself, and that of celebrated 20th century artist John Wilson, a College of Fine Arts professor of painting. Two decades before he became Joseph’s instructor at CFA, Wilson gifted several of his portraits of Joseph’s mother, Frances, to Joseph’s parents upon their marriage. Joseph’s father, Hubert, was a member of the Boston Expressionists movement. Frances was for most of her life a figurative sculptor, but later developed a strong interest in Japanese scroll painting, while Joseph’s practice is grounded in surrealistic printmaking and painting.
