Ian Randal Strock

Ian Randal Strock (CAS’87,’89) of Brooklyn, N.Y., received the 2025 Edward E. Smith Memorial Award for Imaginative Fiction (the “Skylark”) from the New England Science Fiction Association. The Skylark honors an individual who has contributed significantly to science fiction and exhibits the personal qualities exemplified by sci-fi author Edward E. Smith. Ian, a public speaker, found himself speechless as he received the award. “It was my worst performance on the stage ever,” he says. “I think I said, ‘Thank you,’ but I’m quite certain I could not come up with anything more insightful or erudite.” He adds, “I am humbled by this award, and by the awe-inspiring list of prior recipients. I will try to live up to their illustrious examples.” Friends and former classmates can congratulate Ian at ianstrock@hotmail.com.
