Elizabeth Gurian
Elizabeth Gurian (Sargent’01) of Montpelier, Vt., was named a Charles A. Dana Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Norwich University in 2025. That year, she also launched The Murder Matrix, a comprehensive tool bringing together extensive serial killer data across jurisdictions, time periods, and offender profiles, creating a centralized resource for researchers, law enforcement professionals, and policymakers. “The aim is to deepen our understanding of serial violence and to provide data-driven insight into prevention and analysis,” she writes. “I also used much of the data I generated on The Murder Matrix to write my book, Serial and Mass Murder: Understanding Multicide through Offending Patterns, Explanations, and Outcomes (Routledge, 2022)."
