Elizabeth Gurian

Elizabeth Gurian (Sargent’01) of Montpelier, Vt., writes, “Since my time at Boston University, I’ve remained deeply committed to advancing research and public scholarship, particularly in the field of criminology.” Elizabeth was named the Charles. A. Dana Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Norwich University in September 2025. She launched The Murder Matrix, a comprehensive dataset focused on serial murder. The tool brings together data across jurisdictions, time periods, and offender profiles, creating a centralized resource for researchers, law enforcement professionals, and policymakers. “The aim is to deepen our understanding of serial violence and to provide data-driven insight into prevention and analysis,” she adds.
