Bonnie Discepolo
Bonnie Discepolo (CFA’03) of Los Angeles, Calif., plays Lex Luthor’s assistant, Ms. Jessop, opposite Nicholas Hoult (The Great), in James Gunn’s 2025 film Superman. The role, her biggest studio project to date, was a peak acting experience that she says drew directly on her theater training. Bonnie is also known for her role in Robert Rodriguez’s Hypnotic, a 2023 Cannes Film Festival entry starring Ben Affleck. In addition to acting, Bonnie writes and directs award-winning films; her sci-fi pilot Neo-Dome, starring Anna Camp, won the Audience Award at 2024 SXSW and was selected for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Short Film Showcase in the category of Excellence in Performance. Her short film Dark Land of the Sun—one of the first narrative works created using OpenAI’s Sora—was commissioned by the Tribeca Festival and explores grief, memory, and time travel. Bonnie is directing American Discepolo, a documentary about her father’s cousin, the legendary tango composer Enrique Santos Discépolo. She is also developing a slate of films about characters on obsessive quests, who discover deeper truths along the way.
