Amy Harrington

Amy Harrington (COM’90) of Los Angeles, Calif., and Nancy Harrington (COM’85) of Burbank, Calif., are sisters and business partners who went on to successful careers in the Hollywood film industry following graduation. They left their high-pressure jobs and turned to interviewing celebrities like Nina Tassler (CFA’79, Hon.’16), Jason Alexander (CFA’81, Hon.’95), and David E. Kelley (LAW’83) before deciding to use their skills “to shine a spotlight on women” through The Passionistas Project. “Each year we hold a three-day summit called The Power of Passionistas,” they write, “which brings together thought leaders, entrepreneurs, activists, artists, and educators from around the globe. The cross-section of women discuss issues affecting all women from various marginalized communities, what challenges are unique to them and, more importantly, what common bonds they all share. Through the summit, as well as The Passionistas Project Podcast and The Passionistas Project Pack subscription box, we are creating a global network of women who help inspire others to pursue their dreams.” Previously, Amy was vice president of visual effects and postproduction for all feature films at Warner Bros., working on the Harry Potter series, the Matrix franchise, and more than 250 films. Nancy had her own successful theater company and graphic design firm in Boston before moving to California and working as a creative executive, producing Academy Award campaigns for Miramax. “We gave up our own successful careers in the entertainment business to pursue our passions, so we fully understand the satisfaction that comes with following our hearts and we thrive on creating a safe space for all women of different backgrounds to work together to do the same.”
