Directions and Parking for the Laboratory

By Car

By Car from the West or Southwest:

  1. Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) East to Exit 18, Brighton/Cambridge.
  2. Exit left. Follow signs to Cambridge to the second set of lights.
  3. Turn right at the lights onto Soldiers Field Road/Storrow Drive.
  4. Exit Storrow Drive at the Kenmore exit, which exits on the right.
  5. Follow directions from Kenmore Square (see below).

By Car from the South:

  1. Take I-93 Route 3 (Southeast Expressway) North to Boston.
  2. Exit onto Storrow Drive (Exit 26).
  3. Continue on Storrow Drive to the Kenmore exit, which exits to the left.
    Stay on the right side of the exit ramp for Commonwealth Avenue.
  4. Follow directions from Kenmore Square (see below).

By Car from the North:

  1. Take I-93 Route 3 (Southeast Expressway) South to Boston.
  2. Exit onto Storrow Drive (Exit 26).
  3. Continue on Storrow Drive to the Kenmore exit, which exits to the left.
    Stay on the right side of the exit ramp for Commonwealth Avenue.
  4. Follow directions from Kenmore Square (see below).

By Car from Logan International Airport:

  1. Take Route 1-A through the Sumner Tunnel.
  2. Take I-93 Route 3 (Southeast Expressway) North in Boston.
  3. Exit onto Storrow Drive (Exit 26).
  4. Continue on Storrow Drive to the Kenmore exit, which exits to the left.
    Stay on the right side of the exit ramp for Commonwealth Avenue.
  5. Follow directions from Kenmore Square (see below).

By Car from Kenmore Square:

  1. At the first set of traffic lights, turn right onto Beacon Street.
  2. At this point, the road forks.
  3. The left fork takes you into Kenmore Square.
  4. Bear right at the far end of Kenmore Square onto Commonwealth Avenue.
  5. Turn left on Blandford Street and right on Cummington Street.
    44 Cummington Street is on the left side.

By Public Transportation

Red Line

  1. Take the Red Line train to Park Street.
  2. Transfer to the westbound Green Line “B” train (see below).

Blue Line

  1. Take the Blue Line train to Government Center.
  2. Transfer to the westbound Green Line “B” train (see below).

Orange Line

  1. Take the Orange Line train to Downtown Crossing.
  2. Follow the underground concourse to the Park Street station on the Green
    Line.
  3. Board the westbound Green Line “B” train (see below).

Green Line

  • From Lechmere, Science Park, North Station, or Haymarket, take any train to Government Center. Transfer to the westbound “B” train (see below).
  • From the “C” (Cleveland Circle) or “D” (Riverside) train, take any train inbound to Kenmore Square. Transfer to the outbound platform and board the “B” train (see below).
  • From the “E” (Heath Street) train, take any train inbound to Copley station. Transfer to the outbound platform and board the “B” train (see below).

From the “B” train:
Take the Green Line “B” train to the “BU East” stop. Cross Commonwealth Avenue towards the side with “City Convenience”. Walk down Cummington Street (which turns left after 1 block) until you reach the red brick building at 44 Cummington Street.

MBTA Bus

Take any of the following bus routes to Kenmore Square: 8, 57, 60, 65, 8A.
Board the westbound Green Line “B” train (see above).

Parking

On-Street Metered Parking:

  • Cost: 25 cents per 15 minutes (only quarters are accepted, 4 hour limit); free on Sundays
  • Meters on Cummington Street, Commonwealth Avenue and Hinsdale Street
  • Handicapped spot in front of building (with proper handicap parking ID)

Boston University Visitor Parking Lots:

  • Cost: $12.00 per day
  • Commonwealth Avenue & Granby Street:Parking lot with a red food stand named “Campus Trolley” and with “Taco Bell” on the other side of Commonwealth Avenue (this lot is the closest to the NeuroVisual Clinic)
  • Commonwealth Avenue & Deerfield Street:Parking lot across from Kenmore Square Post Office (.37 miles from the NeuroVisual Clinic)

Note that during baseball games and other Fenway events, parking lots charge higher rates and may be full. Please allow for extra time on such occasions.

Building Access

If the main doors to 44 Cummington Street are locked, you may use the Boston University blue-box phone across the street to call the BU phone number that your laboratory or clinic contact has given you.
