First Quarter

Dear Colleague,

The University’s Quarterly Confirmation process allows schools, colleges and administrative units, in collaboration with the office of Budget and Planning, to summarize and report on factors impacting their forecasted performance for the current fiscal year. If your area has been selected for a first quarter confirmation, it is because your activity is either a major budget driver with variability at this point in the year or based on current year activity.

If your area has been selected for review, your Fiscal 2026 Q1 submission should summarize the major and relevant favorable and unfavorable items that may be causing any projected variances.  Any major budget variances should be identified and explained in an accompanying memo.

FY2026 1st Quarter Confirmation– Due Tuesday, September 30th

  • All memos and supporting documentation should be returned via e-mail to budgen@bu.edu.
  • If you have no material variances to report please submit an email confirming you have no variances to report at this time to budgen@bu.edu.
  • Line item variances that do not contribute to the total income or total expense variance can be adjusted via the Budget Realignment Template.

If your area has not be selected for a quarterly update and you have no material variances to report, please send your memo and informational review to our office no later than October 15th
