FY2026 Budget FAQs
Reductions
Q: How can I see my approved FY2026 budget/budget reductions?
A: The approved FY2026 budget, including reductions, are available to view in SAC reports.
Strategic Budgeting Funds Center
Q: I noticed a Funds Center called Strategic Budgeting. What is this and what is the amount budgeted there?
A: Strategic Budgeting Funds Centers have been created for every area to be utilized in budget exercises. Any balance of your recurring reduction target that was not met can be seen in your Strategic Budgeting Funds Center. You will not see your Strategic Budgeting Funds Center in reports if there is no budget there.
The target date for clearing balances in Strategic Budgeting Funds Centers is August 1. However, some areas are having ongoing discussions, and their timeline will be extended. If you are in this category, you will be contacted directly by either the Provost Office (Schools/Colleges/Other Academic Areas) or the Budget Office (Administrative Areas).
Position Eliminations related to the FY2026 Budget Reduction Exercise
Q: What actions do I need to take regarding position eliminations included in the budget reduction exercise?
A: All position eliminations will be processed centrally. There is no need to submit an OM form. As of July 15, 2025 all vacant positions submitted for elimination have been delimited centrally. If you still see a position that should have been eliminated, please contact your budget analyst. Positions involved in layoffs will remain until August.
Q: Do I have to wait to reconcile my positions?
A: You can maintain and reconcile your positions now. Positions involved in layoffs will remain until August although the associated FM budget reductions have already been processed. You can reconcile your position budgets and FM budget now by excluding the position budgets that will be eliminated.
Q: Will funding be provided for July/August payroll expenses of laid off employees?
A: A non-recurring adjustment will be processed to your budget for payroll expenses associated with laid off employees.
FY2026 SII
Q: What is the Stage II Process this year?
A: Stage II realignments are due Friday, August 1. Further information can be found on our website. Note, if you are submitting realignments to clear a balance in your Strategic Budgeting Funds Center, please indicate clearly that it is part of the FY2026 Budget Reduction exercise and provide supporting information via a memo sent to your budget analyst.
Fringe Benefit Rates
Q: What fringe rate should I be using?
A: While new Fringe Benefit Rates have not yet been approved, the FY2026 budget has been adjusted to account for the rate change. Until approval, fringe will be charged at the FY2025 rate. Once the FY2026 rates are approved, a non-recurring budget adjustment will be processed to account for the difference. Please use the FY2026 rates below in any budget realignments you submit.

FY2026 1st Quarter
Q: What are the expectations for Q1 this year?
